PawSafe exists for the moment every pet owner knows: your dog is chewing something and you're typing with one hand. This site makes that lookup take seconds — with the verdict, the symptoms, and the what-to-do, sourced and conservative.

Where the verdicts come from

Every entry cites established veterinary toxicology references — the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center's public guidance, Pet Poison Helpline, and the Merck Veterinary Manual. When sources disagree, we take the safer call. The database is re-reviewed periodically; formulations and guidance do change.

What this site is not

It is not veterinary advice, and it does not know your pet. Age, weight, kidney function, medications, and pregnancy all change the math. When the answer matters, the flow is: this site → your vet → poison hotline. In that order or skipped ahead — never stopped here.

Built for humans and agents

Every lookup is also exposed as machine-callable tools (WebMCP: check_pet_food, list_toxic_foods) so AI assistants can pull live, sourced answers instead of guessing with your pet's health. Plain list at llms.txt.
