PawSafe provides general reference information about food safety for pets, drawn from published veterinary sources. It is not veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Your veterinarian, who knows your animal, is the authority for decisions — and poison hotlines are the authority in emergencies. Using this site is not a substitute for either.

Accuracy, honestly stated

Entries are conservative and periodically re-reviewed, but formulations change, guidance evolves, and no database is complete. An unlisted food is not a safe food.

Acceptable use

The tools (including WebMCP endpoints) are free to use with reasonable volume. Scraping the site as a bulk data feed or republishing the database as your own is not permitted — link to the pages instead.
