The problem compound: N-propyl disulfide (destroys red blood cells). For: dogs & cats.

Toxic to both dogs AND cats, and cats are more sensitive. Cooked onions are not safer — the compound survives heat. Onion powder is the hidden one: chips, broths, leftovers.
